The role of whistle-blowers in the local, regional and global environment is growing by the day. Women and men are risking their lives to highlight problematic issues, tied to political and economical elites, warning citizens and trying to offer enough material for a civic engagement.

In our common political reality, the consequences of whistle-blowing can be dire for the whistle-blower even in cases where their revelations have a significant impact on political developments. Recent case in Austria, involving the whistle-blower Julian Hessenthaler and the case of so-called Ibizagate scandal is yet another example of the dangers whistle-blowers put themselves in when trying to “do the right thing”.

Join us in a round-table discussion focusing on the issue of whistle-blowing in local and EU environment and the role of an active citizen in this regard.
