The regulatory digital battlefields are heating up and every country plays a part. Big Tech lobbyists are putting pressure on the European and local political representatives, the media is filled with Big Tech advertising and the individual is wondering what to do about the fact that parts of our digital lives are in the hands of the companies that only care about themselves.
Digital Sovereignty was usually attributed to repressive regimes like China and other autocratic countries that tried to develop national internet, but the issue of digital sovereignty is slowly becoming an important issue in the EU. Between the big tech intermediaries and foreign governments, how should EU member states develop their own digital sovereignty, how can the EU protect our interests and what can we do to help?
